FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Koobi Now Shipping Bike Saddles In New "EcoBox"

Colorado Springs, CO (April 29, 2010) After nine months of intense research, Koobi bike saddles continue to reduce their carbon footprint by switching to a new "EcoBox" package. The EcoBox not only uses 51% less material, it's also made of recyclable corrugated cardboard.  Currently, 75% of all Koobi shipments use this lighter unbleached recyclable box.

Koobi stopped using the free boxes that USPS gives away for priority shipping because there weight increased shipping costs for the consumer and used too much cardboard. Koobi's charges for shipping now starts at just $2.95.

Koobi Now Shipping Bike Saddles in New EcoBox

In a previous announcement Koobi restated their commitment to keep making their saddles in Italy, not China where many competitors have moved production. China's environmental commitment is, to put it kindly, less than friendly.  Cyclists, as a group, are more sensitive to their environmental impact than the average person. Koobi founder, Phil Schweizer, believes this awareness will cause an increasing demand for products that are also eco-friendly in their manufacturing and delivery.  If a cyclist buys a cup of coffee with a "fair trade" status and drinks it in a recycled cup, why would he or she expect anything less from their bike saddle?"

Koobi believes small, intentional changes can have great impact. Phil Schweizer comments, "Since Koobi sells bike saddles around the world, Koobi wants to leave the earth in better shape. It's smart business."  Customers have responded.  Koobi sales are up 37% in the past two month.

About the "EcoBox"

Koobi is pleased to buy our shipping containers from a local vendor. These boxes are made in Denver, Colorado (just up the road from Koobi's headquarters) and carries the Corrugated Recycles seal from www.corrugated.org The box uses 51% less material and still provides superior shipping protection for the saddle. The "EcoBox" will breakdown in the landfill in 365 days or less.
